5 Tips to Win Your Ex Back
Jul 30th, 2008 by Erik J. Michaels
Getting through a rough breakup can be a lot easier if you have a little help working out the details of what you’ll need to do to get your ex back. Sometimes just a helping hand can make all the difference…which is why I have 5 valuable pieces of advice to make this whole experience easier for you.
1. No matter how much it feels like your life is all but over, you have to still keep going. Letting life pass you by will only leave you further and further behind, and you’ll never recover fully. Have the strength to stand back up and keep going even if life has knocked you down.
2. Alcohol or drugs are not a solution. Turning to these for some comfort from your pain only serves to magnify your problems by further depressing you. If comfort is what you’re looking for, find it in a friend and not in a bottle.
3. Avoid contact with your ex for roughly a month. Being together right now would just open up opportunities to make it worse, so take some time to clear your head and let your ex do the same. When you pick it back up, you’ll be in better shape to make the right decisions.
4. Go by your head, not your heart. Emotional turmoil like this can lead you astray where your mind knows you shouldn’t go. Trust in a solid plan, not in whatever your first impulses are.
5. It’s possible that you and your ex aren’t destined by fate to be together forever. I’m not telling you to just give up, but if everything fails and it just doesn’t seem to be meant to be you may have to live with that. Be prepared for it, even though that may not end up being the case (it often isn’t!).
These 5 tips may not give you much comfort, but right now nothing probably will. If you heed their advice, however, they will show you the way to the right course of action. Never underestimate the power of having a helping hand, a plan…this is too tough of a situation to go it alone.
Probably the most important thing I can tell you is to have a plan. Going into this without an underlying strategy would be disasterous, as typically these situations don’t work the way they seem like they should. They can be tricky, so don’t get tricked! Use your month of freedom from your ex to work out a real plan, so you can know what you’re doing before you’re stuck staring your ex in the face and wondering what to do or say.
