Beach Wedding Trends 2009
Apr 21st, 2009 by Mala Webber
Wedding trends for this year are being highly influenced by the American economy . As a result of the uncertain financial climate, couples are opting to have smaller and less expensive weddings. There are many ways to cut down on wedding expenses that do not include cutting out the magical appeal and and white-wedding dream.
Vintage is in this year, which means you can save a great deal of money by wearing your mothers or grandmothers dress. It may have been a classic dress that can be re-used easily with some new jewelry, shoes or other accents and accessories. Having a beach wedding is a fabulous way to save money and you can take that vintage dress and cut it to a length that is more suitable for the beach - and voila you have a new & improved “beach wedding dress” style!
Another way to get to that spectacular destination wedding that you’ve always dreamed of is to consider cutting down on the number of guests. Food & drinks are a big cost in a wedding and the less you have to feed the less you will spend. Try a sparkling wine rather than an expensive champagne. The only difference in most cases is that Champagne is made in France and the other ones are made in another country and cannot be called ‘champagne’. Ask if the resort or hotel of your destination wedding will allow you to bring in your own alcohol, or even better, see if you can have the reception on the beach!
Another popular wedding trend this year is colour. This works perfectly with a Caribbean wedding theme. You’ll have a natural backdrop of turquoise seas and clear blue skies and a lot of tropical flowers . A simple white wedding dress, and a bright colourful embroidered trim, beading or colourful sashes can be added easily. With a Caribean wedding it’s easily to try a classy, informal, off the shoulder dress. If you are looking to save money and not be too formal the vintage dress cut short may be a good choice.
If you have someone artistic in your family see if they can help with some low cost decorations. Keep in mind you want wedding favors that suit your colorful theme. Simple and cost effective works best! Find some shells & rocks and have them polished to put on the tables. Use sand and bamboo plants for added decoration. If you cannot find all these items try a local beach wedding shop when you get there so you don’t have to pack anything. You’ll probably easily find everything you need to decorate on the shores of the local beach.
