Do you take note along your travels of the mighty vulture that soars so high above us and our earth, while casting its hungry eye towards the earth with its suffering and lowly dying and death? - Shri Ramakrishna

I have always been a hero of sorts, my deeds are lightning quick, fixed and unyielding, equally, so shall I die. There is no question of vanquish and none what so ever of victory. Shall I never give ground from a good fight, when it never crossed my mind before? In every attempt there are catastrophe and triumph. Something deep within me tells me that to live in cowardice is sure to bring about demise and be reawaken as a lowly pest such as a maggot. Cowardice offers no escape, although the eons may pass away with full recompense. Therefore, shall I be censured as a lowly maggot?
The world is merely our earthly recreational area with lessons to be learned along the way, it shall ever remain so. Is there successful productivity In fretting for months on end concerning our questioning or our own loss or gain, disgrace or honor concerning this mortal live we live daily? I flourish in action. So many are ready and willing to offer their personal advice as to what to do about this thing or that. One man makes threats, while another wobbles from fear. In my opinion, this mortal live is no agreeable pleasant thing that would keep me wanting to remain and endure so much care, vigilance or apprehension.
Life, family, friends and money as well as the love of men such as myself, if one wishes to enter into the work at hand fully assured before doing so concerning all of these, if a soul is ridden with terror and hesitation, then they shall find themselves as the vultures in having what they want. - Swami Vivekananda
I want to share a special story with you today.
In southern India, there was a steep, rocky high mountain. No one had ever climbed to the top of this mountain. However, one day 100 souls committed themselves to reach the mountaintop. They were clueless of the time it would take to reach the summit. However, they each were determined for success. To begin with, they all helped each other. However as the days passed them by, there were some who were better able to cover more ground and left the others behind.
The man who took lead was very pleased and content within himself that he had out paced those below him. Being determined to reach the mountaintop before all the others, he tread swiftly on. The others of course held their own resolve of succeeding. They looked upon the man in lead, understanding his reputation, they admired him and felt inspired by motivation. They discussed among themselves at length of his confidence, character and personal traits.
They continued to climb as each seemed to be covering sufficient ground while daily making progress. The journey continued at days turned into months and months turned into years. The man in the lead eventually could see the summit from a distance. However, it seemed to him the more ground he was able to cover the more ground there was to be covered. When taking in the view of the height he had already covered, he was filled with pride and satisfaction to have conquered such a great distance. All the while, the distance between this man and the others also seemed to widen, depending of course on the progress of each soul.
A small boy who lived in the village watched this as his father was a member of the group. A decade passed him by and yet there was no return of his father. The child longed to see him so, however he had no idea how to do so, since his mother had no idea of her husbands location. The boy began asking the elders of the village for advice, but there were none of any real help. Then one day the boy came upon a wise old man who spoke of a vast river which flowed along behind the rocky mountain. There was a beautiful island at the other end of the river. He told the boy that perhaps he could find his father there and that he could show him the way to the island, but it would take a week to get there and there was a deep dense forest the boy must cross.
The little child was thrilled. . He was bold and determined to meet his father and readily agreed to cross the dense forest.
The wise old man then took a piece of paper and wrote two words on it. “On the third day of your travel in the forest you will meet a person. Hand this paper to him and he will take you to the beautiful island where you can meet your father.”
Excitedly, the boy asked the wise man for a blessing and then took the note and started out towards the forest.
On the third day of his journey he met a strange man in the forest. As advised by the wise man the little child handed the note to this person. No sooner had he handed over the note this man seized the child, slapped him hard, and tied him to a nearby tree with a strong rope. The little child was all in tears. He had eaten very little for the last two days and he had no clue of what was happening. He thought this person would help him meet his dad but instead this ugly man was beating him to death. He cried bitterly.
The stranger was the leader of a tribal community, he informed the boy that noon tomorrow that he would be killed and offered up as a sacrifice to the God of the Forest. The stranger paid the boy no mind as he pleaded for mercy and release.
The boy wondered why the wise man would be so cruel as to lie to him,, and wondered why he would do him this way. He wept and then soon fell fast asleep. A vision came to him as God appeared before him. The boy told God of the happenings in his life, with tears rolling down his face. He then asked God for help.
God took the child tenderly in his arms as he knelt down beside him. He then whispered two words in the ears of the child. God told him that when the morrow came that he should utter these words to the tribal leader and that he would be free and then able to meet his father. As God bid the child farewell, he kissed him.
At the break of dawn the tribal leader arrived. The little child’s face beamed as he smiled. He uttered the two words as he was instructed to do
