The Masquerade theme party became popular in Venice in the 15 century amongst high society. It is thought that the original purpose was so that the aristocrats could cheat on their wives without being discovered.
Since then, the Masquerade theme party has become popular all over the world. The main point being that you get to hide your identity by wearing a mask. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll get away with!

1. For your invites, get some cardboard and cut out some face masks! Make sure to state that dressing up is essential.
2. Men and the ladies should aim to dress up as flamboyantly as possible! You could have an award for the best costume if you wish later on in the night!
3. All guests have to be wearing face masks. Venetian face masks are the most traditional. You can if you choose have a public unveiling at midnight!
4. Hire a pro photographer and station him at the entrance to take photos of your guests in front of a backdrop. You’re guests will love this idea!
5. Buy some spare masks just in case any of your guests forget to bring one!
6. Try and create an atmosphere of intrigue. Turn down the lights and scatter candles around the venue.
7. If you have a large budget, or the company is paying for the party, consider hiring a string quartet. Otherwise playing classical music will be sufficient.
8. Masquerade theme parties are grand occasions. The food should reflect this fact! Dinner should be a seated affair. If you have a limited budget, then fine finger buffets will suffice.
9. Go for nice wine or champagne to drink. You should serve it in your best glasses.
